The Louvre Announces Design Competition Ahead of Ambitious $316M Renovation

The Louvre, which happens to be the world’s largest and most visited museum, is on the verge of undergoing an ambitious, $316 million renovation. The project seeks to address overcrowding by incorporating an additional entrance near the Seine River and a special exhibition area housing Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. On June 27, the Louvre officially launched an international architecture competition, whose winner will design the museum’s new entrance and exhibition hall.

This renovation initiative aims to boost the museum’s sustainability and accessibility, while also tackling the escalating issue of overcrowding. The Louvre currently attracts around 8 million visitors annually, making it the most visited museum in the world.

World’s First Robot and AI Museum Opens in Seoul

The world's first Robot & AI Museum (RAIM) opened in South Korea. Located in Seoul, the futuristic building was designed by Melike Altınışık Architects and takes on a spherical, non-directional form intended to “reflect the fluidity and dynamism of the AI and robotics fields.” Stretching nearly 80,000 square feet, the expansive museum is a celebration of science, technology, and innovation.
